lavender and lace

Tee Many Martoonies, L'Or du Lavandre
In my quest for new flavours and recipes, I've been thinking about new ingredients and new decorations.

Amy and I had been walking the dogs in Cornwall Park and stopped for devonshire tea at the lovely cafe. I love the way they serve tea at cornwall Park, a lovely little infuser pot and tea leaves in their own little dish waiting to be added to the pot - real tea is just divine!! In my earl grey, I noticed tiny little lavender petals aside tiny orange morsels - delish!!

for L'Or du Lavandre, i changed the orange to gold to make use of the complimentary realtionship between gold and purple.

Tee Many Martoonies, Martini de Coopcake

For Martini de Coopcake, I'd been thinking about the truffle cases i used in Martini de Truffello and voila ... cupcakes!! pink cupcakes!! A secret boozy ingredient alongside strawberries scattered on the table ... lavender flowers decorating the drapery in the background ...

just 2 places left!! Watercolour Secrets, Saturday 26th May

just 2 places left in my watercolour workshop this Saturday 26th May, Watercolour Secrets at Western Springs College.

Learn the secrets to glowing washes and gorgeous colour effects that can only happen in watercolour! We’ll cover quick drawing: my secret “jump the gun” approach. Bring your favourite photos and create a day to remember!!

Suitable for beginners and intermediate watercolourists, advanced painters will learn some new skills too!

some feedback from previous workshops:

"I truly enjoyed the opportunity to learn from Amanda and was very encouraged by what I was able to do in the workshop. Amanda's enthusiasm is contagious and she has a way of making everyone feel comfortable and accomplished, no matter how much of a mess they feel they have made. She makes your accidents happy opportunities to learn and your fears and lack of confidence disappear. I look forward to being able to participate in another session in the near future." Paula H

Drinking on the Job

My favourite building, Lion Nathan, Ormiston Road, East Tamaki, Auckland NZ.

The best view is at dawn with all the vats, pipes, ladders and railings illuminated by wonderful amber lighting. what appeals to me most is the geometry and pushing the shapes around till they're stylised and upbeat.

Further, i'm really into machinery; machines make things, they push us into the future, they're designed by highly imaginative and clever people, they fulfill our needs, making things generates employment.

Baggy Pants Brigade

"Baggy Pants Brigade" has sprung from "Keeping it for Generations".

It's really an ode to the summer we never had!! But what an amazing Autumn, gorgeous sunny days and light breezes.

I love watching kids fooling around, laughing and playing, they really know how to live life! It's all lost so quickly as we 'grow-up'.

I've never managed to get a decent photo of the fishing platform, i only ever seem to have my mobile phone with me. However, from an artist's perspective, a bad photo is not much of a problem, detail is overkill so i use photographic reference as a springboard for my imagination.

It amused me that i managed to inadvertently paint one of the boys fixing his wedgie, i was going to change it and then i thought, hold on, that's what people really do, it's real-life!
